We left the Baddeck area of Nova Scotia and drove through the middle, then south around Halifax, and down to the southwest coast. Our campground is in Indian Harbor on St. Margaret's Bay, just above the picturesque village of Peggy's Cove.
We first stopped at the Swissair Flight 111 monument just outside Peggy's Cove. The plane crashed in the water near here, and the local people were very helpful with the recovery efforts and working to comfort the victims' families.
There are a lot of quaint little villages on the water, but Peggy's Cove is the most famous, with its lighthouse on the rocks and the multi-colored boats and buildings. And, it was filled with tourists! We thought we would just ride through since it was so crowded, but we found a parking spot near the lighthouse, so got out and walked around. The sun was wrong for lighthouse pictures anyway, so we'll go back in the morning and hope to beat the crowds. It's a tight turn at the top of the hill, but there were four tour buses parked there! We saw more arriving as we left, and I don't know where they put them. Maybe they have some sort of schedule?
We left there and drove a loop through a few more fishing villages before coming back to the campground. I had been so impressed with the wifi at the Canadian campgrounds where we've stayed, but the one here is useless! At least there's a good cell signal, so I'm using my phone hotspot.
I baked the frozen meat pie we bought yesterday and it was really good!
