The campground we had chosen does not take reservations, which is really weird for a campground. We took our chances and arrived soon after 11:00am, which was a good time since people were leaving. In fact, as we got within 20 miles of the island, it looked as if there was an evacuation! We met SO many cars and campers heading north! Anyway, someone had just left a nice pull-through spot and we pulled right in.
Unfortunately, it was misty or rainy and foggy most of the day, so we could not really see much of anything. We stopped at an information center to pick up maps and brochures and then rode over to Bar Harbor to look at the waterfront and the huge homes. There were lots of people in slickers and rain gear walking around town. There are tons of shops on narrow streets.
For dinner we drove into Trenton to get lobster rolls at little seafood shack.
