We're heading north now, and wanted to go to Montrose, which has a lot of sights to see. We left early so that it would be cooler for our ascent over the pass. It took us over an hour to get out of the San Luis valley and drizzled a lot of the way. We traveled up route 285 and 114 and over the North Pass. The Cochetopa Canyon is really impressive! We drove on route 50 through Gunnison onto Montrose.
We arrived in time for a late lunch, and cleaned the worst of the grit off the motorhome and car. Then, we drove into town to the visitor center. We got lots of good information and talked with a former truck driver about some of the mountain passes and where we can go.
We have lots of literature to look through!
