Waterfalls on the historic highway

We left the campground on the eastern part of the gorge and moved about 100 miles west to a campground outside of Portland.

After we got settled, we took the car to see the sights and waterfalls on another section of the historic highway.

First, we stopped at the Vista House at Crown Point.  It's an elegant building which was built in 1918 (with much controversy) as a stopping point for travelers on the new highway.  It fell into disrepair, but is now being taken care of.

We rode along route 30 and stopped at a number of waterfalls.  Many of the parking lots are small, and we were late enough in the day that there were crowds, but managed to find parking at most of them. We'll go earlier tomorrow and see the last two.

We took a nice 2-mile hike with the dogs to Wahclella Falls, much of which was uphill!  We got hot, but it was really cool at the falls with all the mist coming off them.

It's SO nice to have good Internet again!  I've also added a little more text to the post about the wedding.
