It's been pretty hot since we got here, but today was a scorcher! I don't know how hot it got, but probably close to 90. It wasn't bad when we had a breeze, and when we weren't in the sun. Alan said he's never felt the Seattle sun so hot!
And, we've had record rainfall at home. We've heard from the two neighbors who are looking after the house, and the water entered our basement for the first time in almost 40 years! We've had it come close, but not inside. Our wonderful neighbors are taking care of things while we fret.
Back to Seattle....we went to see the Chittenden Locks at Ballard this afternoon (along with most of the other people in this area!) They are fascinating to see in operation, and during the summer the salmon are swimming upstream. There are viewing windows where you can watch as they rest before the next jump on the "ladder". They also sometimes jump as they are swimming up the sound. You can see schools of them in the water.
After visiting the locks, we drove into town to see some sights with Alan and Yuka. We walked to the Pike Place Market. Some of the stalls were closing shop, and we were too late to watch the guys who throw your fish at you!
