Pacific!

We decided to go the rest of the way to the coast and get a peek at the Pacific.  We drove along the Columbia River (which we've been seeing forever!) through Longview and Skamokawa and out to Long Beach, where we took the boys to their first glimpse of an ocean.  Baxter would have gone in if we had let him, but we didn't need a wet dog in the car!

We have been seeing tons of log trucks for the past few days and have passed some HUGE lumber mills.  You'd think there wouldn't be any trees left out there!

After driving up a little of the southwest coast of Washington, we came back down and crossed the 4.1 mile bridge from Megler to Astoria.  There were gulls which came swooping over the railing and flew barely by us, going in the opposite direction.  Then we drove east on the Oregon side of the river back to another bridge into Washington.

There were lots of pilings left over from piers and buildings on the water.
