Well, we scrapped the idea of going to the west side of the Olympic Peninsula. We just didn't know how to plan it. It's way too big for any kind of day trip, which we found out yesterday. The only way to get around it is to take the motorhome on the whole loop since it's too far to go and come back, and try to get to the other side. We had already paid for three nights in Gig Harbor, so we just stayed.
So, we spent a nice day in the area around Gig Harbor. We took the dogs to a huge (30 acre!) dog park, but it's new, and since it's all wooded except for paths, it's not very good for a frisbee. They do have one open area where they will probably have grass, but right now it's dirt. Baxter got his exercise, anyway!
Then, we went to Gig Harbor to gawk at the amazing homes on the water, and to walk the dogs around the marina area. Many of the shop keepers have water bowls out front for dogs! After a couple of hours there, we drove down to the bottom of Fox Island and saw lots more wonderful views. It was a little cloudy in the morning, but the rest of the day was perfectly clear, and we could see Rainier from many places.
