We were too early for our campground checkin, so we parked in the museum parking lot for the first couple of hours. We were going to use our senior status and AAA card to get a discount on the admission, but Tommie said something about EAA, and we got in free with that card!
The Spruce Goose is huge! They built the building especially for it. The whole museum is extremely well-done, and there are groups of airline seats scattered about for resting. There are a number of stations with short videos telling about different aircraft.
The theater shows several different 3-D movies and we picked the one about the Reno air races. We also spent some time in the space building.
But the highlight of the day was our tour of the Spruce Goose cockpit! We paid $25 for a one-on-one tour and that includes a picture of us in the cockpit. They gave Tommie a Howard Hughes-type hat and took pictures with both their camera and mine. I got to take all the pictures I wanted. The flight deck can't be seen at all if you don't pay for this special tour, but it was well worth the cost. We had a great guide and got to look all around and ask any questions.
Our campground is right next door to the museum and there's a path between. There's a wheat field along the path, so I've picked some wheat for Freddy (My pet mouse, in case you forgot! Yes, he still runs in his wheel at night!)
