The weather today looked a little more promising and it's our last day here, so we took the drive across the "Going-to-the-Sun Road": a historic 50-mile road which bisects the park. There are many spectacular views. We had lots of clouds, some drizzle, a little sun, and LOTS of wind! We were glad we got an early start, since we had heard that the overlooks and trailhead parking lots are full and congested by late morning.
We did most of our stopping on the eastern trip, and had been told to make the trip back on the same road, since you see the views from a different angle. There was still lots of snow on the high peaks. There are a few glaciers left, and I guess we saw some, but they all have snow on top of them, so unless you know what you're looking at, you can't tell a glacier from just packed snow.
There are tons of waterfalls...some which drench the side of the car. Sometimes I just stopped in the middle of the road to get my picture if no one was behind me.
The Saint Mary entrance is on the east side, so we went out that gate and up to Many Glacier. There's supposed to be lots of wildlife there, but we didn't see any except ground squirrels. There had been two bears at one spot, but we got there as they disappeared.
After we got back, we grocery shopped, cooked dinner, vacuumed the motorhome, did laundry, and bathed the dogs. Everything is clean! (Except the outside of the motorhome, which we're not allowed to wash in a campground.)
