We left Rawlings and headed east on I-80. We went over the Snowy Range Pass (130) through the Medicine Bow mountains, which goes
south below the interstate through Saratoga, WY....lots more
beautiful scenery! We were already over
6,000 feet at our last stop, and rose to over 10,800 feet!
It rejoins I-80 just west of Laramie.
We stopped at another great Wyoming Visitor Center (they have the best!),
and then took highway 210 to Cheyenne.
It was not as mountainous but still picturesque. We had been told that it bypassed a really
high altitude climb on the interstate.
We had to wait for some construction, but that was fine. We did see quite a few groups of pronghorn
antelope.
At Cheyenne, we hit 80 again and headed into Nebraska. There was a rest stop just before we left Wyoming,
but there was no room for us, so we decided to go onto the next one just over
the border, but it had been closed for a long time. Ugh!
So we had to travel another 40 miles for Tommie to get a break. At least this one had some grass for a
Frisbee spin!. Baxter had been bugging
me all morning with his tennis ball, so I tried to tire him out.
Just before we got into Nebraska, the landscape started
turning green, and soon there were real crops instead of just cattle.
We’re staying in a county park in Gothenburg, Nebraska. It’s a pretty park with trees and grass and we saw some wild turkeys!
I probably won't take many pictures tomorrow. I expect we'll mostly see lots of corn!

Two of the three turkeys.
They were running, so I had to snap fast! |

Trees again! |
Love your pictures! They bring back good memories.
ReplyDeleteWhen we were in Wyoming, it seemed that the sky was so close!
The clouds were right on top of us, or so it felt like.
Nebraska was home to Craig's parents as was Kansas, so we enjoyed going back to the past when visiting there.
Glad you are finding grassy places for a run!
Happy adventures to you!
Love, Mary
