We had to think hard about how far to go today. Going all the way home would make for a very long drive, but we didn't want to stop just anywhere. We finally settled on Maggie Valley, since it's picturesque. Google maps showed a big traffic backup around Morganton because of an accident and we didn't want to get into that. We had already spent a lot of time in congested traffic on the Tennessee/NC border, and it wasn't fun. I did use the time we were creeping along to get up and make sandwiches for lunch, so we just ate on the go while rolling slowly along....one of the advantages of being in a motorhome!
We found a pretty nice campground in Maggie Valley and then took the car up the mountain part of the way to look back at the valley. I bought some nice peaches and and tomatoes at a fruit stand. As we got back into the town, the projected storm got here, and the cell just hung over the town. We were worried about flash floods in the campground since there's a creek running through it, but no one ever seemed concerned. We did drive the car through lots of water washing over the streets, so I got a lot of the Oshkosh mud washed off from underneath!
