Winnebago Voyage: Skipped a day!

I didn't post anything yesterday since it was just a travel day and last night's campground didn't have wifi. We didn't rush out of Oshkosh since we only had a few hours of travel and didn't want to get to the campground before check in time.

We said goodbye to Pat and Kirk and we both hit the road, going in different directions. We headed north through Wisconsin and had an uneventful trip to a campground in Arbor Vitae, which is just north of Woodruff. After we got set up, we drove back through the towns of Woodruff and Minocqua. We took some back roads and rode through one of the many state parks. There are lakes everywhere in this area and tons of basic campgrounds.

This morning we again took our time getting off since we only had about 100 miles to go. A pretty serious storm blew in just as we were pulling out.

We got up to Lake Superior and drove through some nice towns that are lakefront. We found our campground, which is a municipal campground in the town of Washburn. The site is small and fairly unlevel, but it is pretty here and on the water.

As we were eating lunch we noticed that the bottom hinge on the refrigerator is broken, and to get the door open, Tommie has to lift the door with a screwdriver for me to open it. He has put some J-B Weld on it, but this may mean a quick end to this trip! We'll let the J-B Weld cure overnight and see how it does in the morning.

After we worked on the refrigerator door, we rode back down to Ashland to look around some. This is a really pretty area on the Chequamegon Bay on Lake Superior. They have a really nice Northern Great Lakes Visitor Center near here.

I made reservations for the Apostle Islands boat tour tomorrow.
