We are already on the road!

We left home on July 18, but I didn't start this blog until now, since the first 10 days were spent driving to Oshkosh, WI and being at Air Venture for a week. I didn't think there would be much interesting enough to write about, so I'll sum up that time with a few air show pictures.

Our plan is to head north on Monday, spend at least one night in Michigan's "UP", and then cross into Canada at Sault Ste Marie.  We are hoping they will let us cross the border with 2 dogs, 2 birds, and 2 pet mice.  And there's also my mealworm "farm"!  We've read up on how much wine and beer we're allowed to take, but have read conflicting reports on the food that's allowed so we're trying to eat the meat that's in the freezer. Of course, no firearms are allowed.  With any luck, we'll look innocent enough they won't come inside and inspect the motorhome!

We have done everything we can think of to prepare for travel in Canada.  We exchanged some currency with Canadian friends at Air Venture.  My international Verizon plan will go into effect on July 29.  We'll mostly use our Capital One credit card that has no foreign exchange fee.  It will be hard to think in liters and kilometers!

We will head east after we cross the border, and plan for most of our time to be spent in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island.  I have a lot to learn about Canadian geography!  We thought about taking the ferry to Newfoundland even though it costs a LOT to take a motorhome, but it's a 7.5 hour ferry ride, and the dogs would have to stay in the vehicle deck without us, so we won't try that.

I anyone reading this knows of things to do or see that we should not miss, please let me know!
