We left home on July 15,
heading to Oshkosh, Wisconsin for the huge air show. It’s a little over 1100 miles from home, but
I didn’t start my blog then since it was just two and a piece days of pretty
boring highway travel. We arrived in
Oshkosh on Wednesday before the show started last Monday so we could get
situated and visit with friends. We were
really glad we got settled in our campsite early, since we had two days of
heavy rain during the weekend, and many rigs had trouble getting in, or just
didn’t make it at all! They closed the
EAA campground because of the mud, and were parking campers in parking lots and
beside roads all over town!
We looked at lots of
airplanes during the show, and went to two night air shows that had amazing
fireworks….the best I have ever seen!
After the rains, it got really hot, and we are hoping to find some
cooler weather.
Everyone keeps asking where
we are going next, and we still don’t know for sure! We’re thinking of heading for the Theodore
Roosevelt National Park in North Dakota…a state I don’t think I have ever been
in. There aren’t many campgrounds near
there, so I will call ahead after we get on the road and hope we can find a
spot.
