We had planned on leaving Beckley on Monday morning, but there was so much rain during the night and more predicted that we decided to stay another day.
I went to town to do laundry in the morning, and then we spent the afternoon touring more parks on the New River.
First we drove to Grandview which has an one overlook close to the parking lot. The other viewpoint is a few miles north through the park. Turkey Spur overlook has some steep stairs to get to the highest point but it's a fun hike!
After that, we drove to Sandstone Falls through the town of Hinton. The only way to get to the falls is to drive beside the river to Hinton and then back up on the other side of the river. They told us at the visitor center that the northbound road was under construction but it was passible. That was kind of a stretch, but we made it! I almost turned around several times since it didn't look like the road really continued!
